14 July 2018 – Excursion to revegetated bird habitat

The CFNC excursion for July is being led by Tanya Loos.  As noted in a previous blog (click here), Tanya is also the speaker on the previous evening at the monthly general meeting.

Tanya has provided the following information: “The excursion will be to a private property in Otterys Scrub Rd, Walmer. The property is a former grazing property with many large old trees, and an extensive revegetation program involving three separate projects with Connecting Country. We will be able to see direct seeding revegetation in various stages of regrowth. The site has a long term bird survey site, and has recently been colonised by a population of Brush-tailed Phascogales, a sure measure of success!”

The excursion will depart from the Octopus U3A building on Duke St (opposite the Castlemaine Motel) on Saturday 14 July at 1.30pm sharp.  Car-pooling is likely to be available.  BYO afternoon tea, and binoculars and cameras if you have them.
