The Castlemaine Field Naturalists Club has undertaken regular roadside clean-ups along a section of the Pyrenees Highway between Castlemaine and Muckleford for many years. There is a large permanent sign-post at either end of our section which promotes the CFNC and its role in maintaining the cleanlessness of the roadside. It’s a great advertisement for the club, but only if the roadside is clean!
Despite our previous clean-up being only 2-3 months ago, litter-bugs have made a mess of it again.
This Saturday (17 August 2013) is our next clean-up morning, starting from 9am. With many hands, it should not take too long to complete. We meet at the corner of Pyrenees Hwy and Willy Milly Rd (next to the Tait Decorative Iron business). We would love to see you there. The roadside vegetation is very special, and its also part of a hot-spot for the elusive threatened Swift Parrot – which might still be around. (And last time I collected 14 near-new golf balls from the roadside adjacent to the course – Chris).

Geoff and Geraldine always do a wonderful job collecting the bags of rubbish and providing gloves, fluoro vests and other support. All you need to bring is some sturdy clothes and shoes. Hope to see you there.
